Songwriting offers everyone an opportunity to work through thoughts and feelings about life experiences, both the good and the challenging. In this course, participants in helping professions including healthcare, social work, frontline workers, and support services will learn and practice the basics of songwriting as a self-care tool.
Songwriting for Wellness participants will be supported in the creation of lyrics and a group song by Murray Foster, a professional songwriter (Great Big Sea/Moxy Fruvous) with credits on multiple certified gold and platinum recordings, and Maureen Pollard, a registered social worker who specializes in supporting people as they adjust to the experience of grief and trauma.
This class is intended for beginners and no musical background or experience with an instrument is required to participate. It can be scheduled as a one-day course or four weekly two-hour sessions delivered in person or remotely via Zoom depending on what best meets the group’s needs.
